I saw this on Facebook Marketplace last night. It’s my new favorite thing.

Nah, he’s hiding the pro-trumpie sticker on the rear window.

That’s actually plausible. Living in California any such stickers would probably turn people away.

If you’re going to try... ugh...
Why do this?! Your license plate is there for a reason. It isn’t your social security number!

The thing is in Georgia, you really don’t need to cover up your plate unlike Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, or South Carolina (
the states I serviced as a Private Investigator) your plate information can not be found in any non-law
enmforcement
database and even the
law enforcement officia
l’s name
is logged and recorded
every time they pull a plate holders name and address.

Nah, anyone with that sticker would be blindly proud of it, then wonder why nobody wants the car.

Exactly, and it is on display all the time, if bad people want to do bad thing with my plate number they certainly don't have to wait until I post my car to Craigslist. They can do it when I am driving around everyday, parked at Wal-Mart, a restaurant, work, the pharmacy drive through, etc. etc. etc.

I think the difference is that linking the plate to an some kind of identity explicitly, in this case the Craigslist profile which may potentially have phone numbers and addresses, as opposed to leaving your car on your street with the number on display which doesn’t directly link you.
It’s just like how one post pics of themselves on the track, they tape up their plate.

Ugh, I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that they failed at blueing
the plate, the fact that they can’t even get the whole car in the image,
or they used a cellphone screenshot in their ad.

Maybe after trying to sell it for a few months and they’ve realised.

It’s not, though to be clear, it’s extremely bad that we treat social security numbers as secrets as well. They are IDs, not passwords.

Maybe the rear wiper is broken. I hope they were trolling.
I feel like making a fake Craigslist ad now.

Google voice number and never putting your address on CL fixes that - ask me how I know. :)

My grandfather had his tattooed on his arm during WW2. When identity theft became popular he got a rash of shit from grandma. Why the tattoo? If he had been killed it would have been easier to identify his body...
